I love that the playing field of wisdom is a level one — you don’t have to be smart, accomplished or even well-educated to get it. Anyone can become wise.
But you do have to seek wisdom. James 1:5 tells us if we need wisdom, we can ask for it and God will give it liberally! Many times in my life, I have felt stretched because the tasks or situation at hand required wisdom that I just didn’t have. Being a mother of many, loving someone with an addiction, straightening up my own messed up thoughts and emotions, and trying to make marriage work are all things that brought me face-to-face with my deep need for wisdom. Even during this season of my life, I am being stretched by my business endeavors and always seem to need more wisdom! I am continually asking for more.
And God has never failed to keep this promise! I have received the wisdom and understanding I’ve needed many, many times. Even when I was slow to ask or slow to hear, eventually, it came. When it comes down to it, I am just a fool who eventually remembers to ask for wisdom.
No, we don’t become wise by osmosis or with gray hair alone. (I wish!) God’s Word tells us many times we must seek wisdom with a whole heart and treat is like a rare jewel. The Book of Proverbs tells us:
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

XOXO,

It made me weep because my mom and dad didn’t give me much advice except to stop doing things. My dad told me I would be a leader but that was about it. I took what the man said in the video and will run with it. A very inspiring video.
